Home Tour: The Living Space

The 2nd post in my Home Tour series will show off our living space.

Mrs. in the Making's Home Tour: Living Area

Like the kitchen, you may spot some clutter.  You may also spot some animals :)  Extra points if you see the cat!

The bookcase is one of the first things you can see when you come in the front door.  Things of interest:  the gorgeous girl staring at you is my baby sister. The book behind the photo on the middle shelf is Clifford Goes to the Hospital.  You know, since I’m a nurse and stuff. :P Bottom two rows are mostly textbooks but the middle row is my pride and joy.  See the end of the post for a list of my favorite books!

Close up of that wall art – one of my first purchases when I moved in:

Now, make a 90 degree turn to your left:

You can’t tell because of the flash, but those curtains are a gorgeous jewel-tone purple, from World Market.

The coffee table was the first thing I bought with my first big-girl paycheck :)

The wildly patterned chair you see is lovingly referred to by my mother and me as “the happy chair.”  Mr, on the other hand, refuses to use that nickname and in fact would like to see it in a dumpster ASAP.  To each his own, I guess…

I mean, really.  It’s perfect.  It’s the greatest place to curl up and take a nap, and it’s the perfect size for two butts, but way cooler than a love-seat!  (It’s ok if you are in the same camp as Mr. and think it’s ugly.  I’ll forgive you.)

The artwork above the couch is very special to me, because it is a handmade original by my best friend.  The pieces on either side are from Liese Chavez’s Etsy store, Deadpan Alley.  They are hand drawn designs on old book pages.

This is the view from the couch.  It’s not impressive, and clearly I forgot to move all the xbox games before shooting.  Whoops.

This is something I try to live by, so I love having it on the wall in a place I see every day.

And that, friends, is the living space!  Hope you enjoyed it… and maybe were inspired to go find your own crazy patterned “Happy Chair”!!!

  1. I cant tell you how much time I spent looking at that first picture. I couldn't find your cat ANYWHERE!... then I scrolled down. Also, that canary picture would make an excellent Christmas present to me. No need to answer now, you've got 6 weeks to figure out how to wrap it and get it to my house. Much Love!
